A 44-year-old probationer and fled nude on his bicycle, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, June 12, to felony and misdemeanor charges.

Carlos Lorenzo Martinez of Corona admitted to contacting a minor for the purpose of perpetrating a sexual offense, assault resulting in great bodily injury, and indecent exposure in a plea agreement with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

In exchange for Martinez’s admissions, prosecutors agreed to drop three related charges against him.

Superior Court Judge John Molloy scheduled sentencing for July 17 and ordered that the defendant remain held in custody in lieu of $80,000 bail.

About 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 13, 2021, Martinez was riding a bicycle on West Ontario Avenue when he confronted the 12-year-old girl as she neared her school campus, Corona police Detective Daniel Clary has said. He ran over her.

“Martinez was wearing women’s clothing and approached the student,” Clary said. “Martinez shoved the student to the ground with his bicycle and removed his clothing, exposing his nude body while making sexual references. The girl acted quickly and was able to escape the assault by running to a nearby school bus.”

The defendant rode away, naked, and a witness driving through the area flagged down a Corona police patrol unit, reporting what he had seen, authorities said.

Officers caught up with Martinez and took him into custody.
