UPDATED:

Columnist Larry Wilson reveals in his piece July 28 all the arguments why he previously rejected Kamala Harris for her Senate campaign and selection for vice president, then he attempts to convince us that she is the best candidate for president in 2024 because she is “smart” and is a “normie” (meaning she agrees with Larry’s position on all the issues).  The reason he lists no accomplishments for her service as VP to support his “best choice” claim is that he can’t find any.

We don’t need to get robbed on transit

Re “Metro OK’s taller gates and metal detectors” (July 26):

Los Angeles Metro needs to continue to improve safety measures. I lean moderate/liberal/progressive, and I am a regular transit rider to reduce my carbon footprint in the fight against global warming. In California transportation is one of the greatest sources of greenhouse gasses warming the planet. I think the ACLU is off the mark when it calls the new safety measures “invasions of privacy and assaults on civil rights.” I, and other transit riders, have our own civil rights, and rights to privacy when riding buses and trains and not to witness uncivil behavior and drug use, nor be confronted and harassed, nor robbed, nor assaulted when riding.

Biden’s outstanding leadership in Washington

Re “Joe Biden’s vanishing act” (July 28):

Susan Shelley writes in a snarky manner about a man who worked hard to bring this country out of the despair Americans suffered while Donald Trump was in the White House. Our economy is much better and our standing in the world has improved since Jan. 20, 2021.

National debt soars and no one seems to care:

Thanks to our Republican and Democrat “saviors” in Congress the national debt passed $35 trillion!

This includes Trump’s not so great contribution of $8 trillion during his four years of filling the swamp as president. Regretfully, Biden will equal or pass Trump’s dubious spending record by the end of the year.

America simply can no longer afford another four years of this left-right failed leadership.
