The event will be in Redlands’ Smiley Park, outside the shrine.
For the third year, the 1st Pennsylvania Light Artillery will provide a program that combines historical facts with practical expertise to give a glimpse into the work of artillerymen during the Civil War, according to a news release.
Abraham Lincoln presenter Robert Broski will also participate in the program.
The reproduction Model 1857 Napoleon 12-pounder field gun, manufactured by Trail Rock Ordnance of Tennessee and donated by the Nies family, was dedicated at the Lincoln Memorial Shrine in August 2021. Since then, it has been displayed in Smiley Park outside the shrine.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, but are asked not to bring large umbrellas.
