A familiar face from the world of sports showed up in the Inland Empire on Wednesday, Jan. 31 — first at his old high school and then at a fast-food eatery.

pitcher Joe Kelly dropped by his alma mater, , for a pep rally. Then he headed to Ontario, where Kelly took orders for an hour at a Jack in the Box.

At Corona High, students cheered along with Kelly, who lives in the city and also attended . He after being reacquired in a summer trade.

At the Jack in the Box on South Vineyard Avenue in Ontario, Kelly helped work the counter and drive-thru window, served food and greeted customers.

The visits were part of the Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour 2024, which blends community outreach with drumming up excitement in the upcoming baseball season.

Kelly and his wife Ashley made headlines this winter when he gave up his uniform number — 17 — for . She posted videos to social media urging Ohtani to join the team. The Japanese star said thank you by buying her a Porsche. Kelly will now don No. 99.
