An officer-involved shooting took pace in Yucaipa on Friday, Feb. 9, the Fontana Police Department announced in an , though few details were immediately available.
Police said the department’s gang unit was involved in an operation in Yucaipa with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. During the operation, officers stopped a vehicle for traffic violations, and a person was seen with a firearm in the vehicle.
An officer-involved shooting occurred and the person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, authorities said.
No officers were injured, according to Fontana police.
The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Officer-Involved Shooting Team is handling the investigation with the Fontana Police Department cooperating with the investigation, Fontana PD said.
Another Fontana police officer-involved shooting that occurred on Dec. 19 also remains under investigation.
