A man was in critical condition Monday, April 15, after he was sucker punched on a Redlands street, the Redlands Police Department said.

Colton resident Andrew P. Millan, 35, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing great bodily injury, according to San Bernardino County jail records. He was being held at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino in lieu of $1 million bail.

The victim’s name was not announced.

The attack happened just before 2 a.m. on 5th Street north of Citrus Avenue. The victim was talking with a woman when Millan approached him from behind and punched him, unprovoked, a police news release said. The victim was knocked out and hit his head on the sidewalk before suffering seizures.

The victim was reported unconscious in a hospital, but his vital signs were stable, police said.

Witnesses identified Millan as the attacker, and he was arrested nearby, police said.
