A 3-year-old boy was killed Tuesday, April 30, in a traffic collision in Fontana, the Police Department said.

The crash was reported just after 4 p.m. at Baseline and Almeria avenues, said Officer Steven Reed, a department spokesman.

A car was traveling west on Baseline when it attempted to turn left onto Almeria and was broadsided, Reed said.

The child was in the right-rear passenger seat and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police on Thursday were still trying to determine which car had the right-of-way, Reed said.

“They are still early in the investigation and contacting witnesses to the collision, and following up with the involved drivers,” Reed said.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office had not yet announced the boy’s name.
