Fontana police are looking for three men who smashed a glass display case at a Cardenas supermarket and made off with an unspecified amount of jewelry.

The robbery happened around 2:12 p.m. at 11647 Cherry Ave. on Thursday, May 16, said Officer Steven Reed, a Police Department spokesman.

The men pulled up in a white Ford Mustang with a black convertible top and got out wearing hooded sweatshirts, backpacks and medical-style masks, Reed said. They used a hammer to break the glass at a kiosk and then grabbed handfuls of jewelry.

They drove away north on Cherry toward Jurupa Avenue, Reed said.

No arrests have been announced.

Other Cardenas markets have been similarly hit.

Cardenas markets were also the targets of jewelry thieves in Riverside, Murrieta and Lake Elsinore in 2022, authorities reported.
