A 30-year-old Redlands woman was injured after police shot her while responding to a domestic disturbance call on Thursday, May 23, the Redlands Police Department said in a statement released Friday, May 24.

On Thursday, Redlands police were called to the 1000 block of Oxford Drive shortly before 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they were confronted by a woman armed with a knife, according to a written statement from the department.

After she refused to comply with officers’ commands, officers shot the woman and provided medical aid until medical personnel arrived, the statement said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover from her injuries.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting, and two officers were placed on administrative leave, Friday’s statement said.
