Barbara Adcock OBITUARY

Barbara Adcock was freed from her body on February 8, 2024 to join her beloved God. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took great joy in her family. We will miss her laugh, her beautiful singing voice, her generosity, her open mind and her magnificent heart, but we rejoice in her freedom.Barbara Jean Wixson was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Earl and Esther (Krull) Wixson as the fourth of five girls. She married Gene Lee Duncan in 1953 after graduating high school–the first in her family to do so. The young couple moved to California shortly thereafter and raised four children, settling in Riverside in 1966 and becoming active at Faith Reformed Church.Widowed at 39, Barbara went to college and earned her teaching degree. She taught at Pedley Elementary School for 19 years before retiring. In 1991 she married Joe Adcock, and the two of them enjoyed over 30 years of adventure, travel and grandchildren. The couple have attended The River Christian Reformed Church in Redlands for the past 15 years. Barbara remained healthy and active well into her 80s; her husband Joe devoted himself to her care as her body slowly failed. She has now joined her parents, three sisters, and the father of her children. She is survived by her husband; her daughters Jody, Pamela and Margie; her son Edward; her sister Fern Hudson of Iowa City, IA; granddaughters Caitlin Carnes and Katherine Looft; grandsons Nicholas and Jacob Duncan; and several great-grandchildren including Ainsley and Jordan Carnes and Joseph Neiberger.
