David Thomas Sari, of La Quinta, California, passed away on January 26, 2024 at the age of 92. He was born in 1931 in Rankin, Pennsylvania to Hungarian immigrants John and Yolan Sari. David attended the University of Pittsburgh where he played basketball and earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1958. Upon graduation, David worked for the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan.His career in the steel industry led him to Indiana for The Levy Company, servicing Bethlehem Steel, and eventually to California with Heckett Engineering. In 1986, David and his wife, Katheryn, founded D.T. Sari Co., Inc. a steel processing center. They eventually built their own facility and serviced multiple domestic and international contracts until retirement.In his spare time, David was a motorcycle enthusiast, private pilot, and an avid golfer. He and Katheryn spent their latter years golfing at many fine courses, including St. Andrews. One of his golfing highlights was having the opportunity to play with Arnold Palmer in a Pro-Am twice!David is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Katheryn Butler Sari, daughter Katheryn Elizabeth Sari, son Michael John Sari, 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.Viewing for David will begin at 10:00 AM in Forest Lawn Mortuary, Cathedral City on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. His celebration of life will begin at 11:15 AM, followed by graveside services at 12:30 PM in Desert Memorial Park, Cathedral City.
