Michael Paul Maudsley Obituary

Michael Paul Maudsley, 78, passed away peacefully in Rancho Mirage, California, on February 5, 2024.Mike was born on August 24, 1945, in San Bernardino, California. He was predeceased by his three siblings: Alan, Kenny, and Susan. He graduated from Pacific High School in 1963 alongside the love of his life, Judy Malone. They were married on June 26, 1965, in a beautiful ceremony in their hometown. They then welcomed their daughter Janet. Mike graduated from the University of Redlands in 1977; while pursuing his degree, he began his career with his first job in management at JCPenney, where he worked until he became a San Bernardino Police Officer in 1971. His love of service to his community blossomed while serving as an officer and was a passion he carried through the rest of his life. Upon leaving the police department, he became an insurance broker ultimately retiring from Central City Insurance. He concurrently served on the San Bernardino Planning Commission and was later elected to the San Bernardino City Council in 1987. Mike and Judy then moved to Rancho Mirage in 1995, where he enjoyed the desert lifestyle, the natural beauty of the valley, the friends, and the community service he found there. During their retirement years, Mike and Judy enjoyed traveling the world and experiencing many beautiful sites. He not only loved every trip to Paris, he specifically loved being in Paris with his wife. A true romantic since they’d met. The most important part of Mike’s life was his family. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Bailey, Blair, and Blake. He loved each of their individual strengths and spirits. He could often be found behind the lens of a camera, capturing important memories that can now be seen across the walls of his home. His family will dearly miss his love, wisdom, and ever-giving devotion. He was big-hearted, vibrant, and radiated light. He accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile. He had immense passion for his family, service, red wine, and his grand puppy Champion. He truly lived a life worth living, worth loving, and a life worth celebrating. The family appreciates your love and prayers during this time. Tonight, we raise a glass, red wine or otherwise, to our beloved, Michael Maudsley.
