Neil Dwight Vandruff OBITUARY

Neil Dwight Vandruff passed away on February 10, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born on January 1, 1932 to Jesse & Erma Vandruff in Wichita, Kansas. Neil had one brother, Merle and had nearly 20 aunts and uncles on his father’s side of the family. He enjoyed fishing at an early age. The family came to California where his father built the family home in Long Beach in 1941. At age 21, Neil began his life-long career with Southern California Edison as a Lineman. In 1960 married the love of his life, Beverly and began their life together in North Long Beach. In 1965, the couple welcomed their daughter, Cindy Lee. In 1972, Neil was promoted and moved to the Hemet Valley where he raised his daughter with Beverly and made a life for themselves. Neil was a Christian and felt devoted to his faith and his community. He always welcomed people at the door with the strongest handshake and the best welcome.In 1987, Neil retired from Edison at age 55 as Operations Manager. He had been affiliated with the Elks since the mid-60s and spent many years in office as the Chaplain, Treasurer and Trustee of the Hemet Elks. He never met a stranger. Always there to help others and to do his best when fulfilling his duties as an Elk. He had wonderful camaraderie with neighbors of 52 years. Neil took pride in his family and enjoyed traveling, cruising, golfing, and being part of the Hemet Elks. Neil and Bev celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary just last year, only a few days prior to Beverly’s passing.Neil is survived by his daughter, Cindy Vandruff-Endres, his grandchildren, Colin Skromeda and Ty Endres, many nieces and nephews, and life-long friends. Always missed. Forever loved.A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Hemet Elks Lodge #1740 at 1 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting charitable donations through the Hemet Elks Lodge #1740 to benefit those they serve.
